According to the US Secret Service, the suspect walked towards a security checkpoint and suddenly started shooting. Security personnel took immediate countermeasures to bring the situation under control. The attacker was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds, where doctors declared him dead.
A pedestrian was also shot in the incident. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether he was shot by the attacker or injured in the subsequent shooting by both sides. The relevant agency said that the matter is being investigated.
