Deadly attack on Gaza on Nakba Day: At least 7 killed, including women and children

Israeli forces have carried out deadly airstrikes on Gaza City as Palestinians mark their historic Nakba Day. At least seven people, including three women and a child, were killed in two separate attacks targeting residential buildings and a civilian vehicle. Dozens of others were injured, medical sources said.
According to international media reports, a massive fire broke out after an attack on a multi-story residential building in the Rimal area of western Gaza City. Witnesses said multiple missiles were used during the attack, spreading panic throughout the area.
The Israeli military claimed that the operation targeted a top leader of Hamas' armed wing. The country's leadership described it as an operation against those who planned the October 7 attacks. However, there was no confirmed information on whether the target was killed or not. Hamas, on the other hand, did not immediately comment on the matter.
According to doctors, some of the injured are in critical condition. Local rescue workers said the death toll could rise as the attack hit a populated area without warning.
The timing of the attack is particularly significant, as Palestinians mark Nakba Day on May 15 each year, commemorating the mass displacement and devastation of 1948.
Meanwhile, renewed concerns have emerged about the ongoing conflict and the situation in Gaza. Local residents fear that violence in the region could escalate despite talks of a ceasefire or peace initiative.
