At least seven people were killed and over 18 injured in a powerful explosion in Lakki Marwat district of Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The incident took place during rush hour in the Nawrang Bazar area of ​​Sarai Nawrang tehsil on Tuesday (May 12), spreading panic throughout the area.

According to local police and hospital authorities, the explosion occurred suddenly next to a rickshaw near Nawrang police station. Immediately after the explosion, chaos spread in the area and people started running in different directions.

Ambulances and special rescue teams of rescue organization Rescue 1122 reached the spot and started rescue operations for the injured. The local administration tried to bring the situation under control.

Authorities confirmed that two traffic policemen were among the dead. Among the injured were women and children, many of whom are said to be in critical condition. An emergency has been declared at Sarai Nawrang Hospital as the number of injured has crossed 18.

Hospital sources said that the bodies of seven of the deceased have already been shifted to Nawrang Hospital and the injured are undergoing treatment.

Initial investigations have revealed that the explosion took place near a rickshaw, but there is no confirmed information yet on how it happened or who was behind it. Law enforcement agencies have started investigating the incident.

The incident has created an atmosphere of extreme tension and grief across Lakki Marwat. Locals have demanded a speedy investigation and identification of the culprits.
