Iran has reacted sharply after US President Donald Trump announced a naval operation to assist ships stranded in the Strait of Hormuz. The head of the country's parliament's National Security Commission, Ebrahim Azizi, issued a stern warning about the move.

He said in a message on social media that any US intervention in the new maritime system in the Strait of Hormuz would be considered a clear violation of the ongoing ceasefire agreement.

Azizi also claimed that the strategic waterway or the Persian Gulf activities will not be conducted according to the US president's "misleading posts".

Incidentally, the ongoing tension and partial blockade in the Strait of Hormuz are disrupting shipping and many ships and sailors are stranded. In such a situation, renewed tension has arisen over a possible US rescue operation, which Tehran has taken a strong stance against.
