Iran has warned of an attack if the US military tries to enter the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. Tehran issued this warning after US President Donald Trump announced a naval operation and an initiative to rescue stranded ships.
A statement from the Iranian military said that the security of the strait is completely under the control of the Iranian armed forces and any type of navigation here must be carried out through prior coordination.
The statement also said that coordination with the Iranian forces is mandatory to ensure the safe passage of commercial ships and oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. Otherwise, a risky situation may arise.
Tehran said that it is ready to use maximum force to protect the security of this waterway. At the same time, it will view foreign military presence or intervention as a direct security threat.
Iran's military sources, expressing their strongest stance, have warned that if the United States or any other foreign force tries to enter the Strait of Hormuz, immediate military action will be taken against them. According to analysts, US-Iran tensions over the Strait, one of the world's most important energy routes, could reach new levels.
