War with Iran without authorization: Senator Murkowski gives Trump a stern warning

Published: 02:50 1 May 2026
US Senator Lisa Murkowski has demanded a clear and credible plan from the Trump administration regarding a possible war with Iran. She said that before starting any war, there must be formal authorization from Congress.
According to Murkowski, if the Donald Trump administration fails to provide a clear plan in this regard, she will bring a proposal that will limit or specify the president's ability to use military force.
She further emphasized that it is the responsibility of Congress to ensure transparency and accountability in important decisions like war. In order to avoid "endless military operations" like in the past, all decisions must be made within the legal framework.
In this context, it is believed that new discussions may also begin on the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF), a special law on the use of military force.
