US President Donald Trump has said that he may go to Pakistan to sign a possible agreement between the United States and Iran. He claims that most of the areas of understanding between the two countries have already progressed and a final agreement may be reached very soon.
Trump spoke to reporters on the South Lawn of the White House on Thursday before leaving for a trip to Nevada and Arizona. During this time, he commented on the ongoing situation in West Asia as he walked towards Marine One.
He said, “If a deal is signed in Islamabad, then I can go there too. They want me to go there.” He sees the ongoing diplomatic talks with Iran as positive.
Trump also said that currently there is a two-week ceasefire in effect between the United States and Iran, which is scheduled to expire next week. However, according to him, if the situation is favorable, this ceasefire may not need to be extended, because a permanent solution can be reached soon.
Those concerned see this potential agreement as an important step in easing tensions in West Asia.
