Tehran's proposed 10-point plan has emerged after a temporary ceasefire between the United States and Iran. US President Donald Trump has accepted this proposal as the basis for possible talks in the Pakistani capital Islamabad, Iran's state news agency Fars News Agency claimed.
According to the report, the plan includes not only a ceasefire, but also important strategic issues including lifting sanctions, reducing military presence and controlled movement in the Strait of Hormuz.
Al Jazeera reported that the meeting to be held in Islamabad can proceed on the basis of these 10 points.
Iran's proposed 10-point conditions:
1. A commitment that Iran will not develop nuclear weapons.
2. A guarantee to stop all forms of aggression against Iran and its allies.
3. Withdrawal of US combat forces from the Middle East and not to attack Iran using regional bases.
4. Permission for a limited number of ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz for two weeks, according to the 'Safe Passage Protocol'.
5. Complete lifting of all sanctions imposed on Iran—primary, secondary, and UN—
6. Establishment of an international investment and financial fund to compensate for war losses
7. Recognition of the right to enrich uranium and the opportunity to discuss its extent
8. Opportunity for bilateral and multilateral peace agreements with regional countries
9. Expansion of the non-aggression policy against resistance groups
10. Approval of all commitments through a formal UN resolution
According to analysts, if this proposal is implemented, there is a possibility of easing long-standing tensions in the Middle East. However, it is also believed that reaching an agreement on issues such as lifting sanctions and reducing military presence will not be easy.
