A series of powerful explosions rocked the Iranian capital Tehran on Tuesday. The explosions knocked out power to large areas of the city, causing panic among the public.
The international news agency Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported that a large part of the capital was left without power after the explosions. Iran's semi-official Fars News Agency and Tasnim News Agency confirmed the same information.
According to the report, power outages were particularly common in the eastern part of the capital, where many areas were completely plunged into darkness.
However, the exact cause of the explosions is not yet known and no party has claimed responsibility. The relevant authorities have started working to bring the situation under control and quickly restore power supply.
No casualties have been reported in the incident so far. However, such explosions and power outages amid ongoing regional tensions have further increased anxiety and panic among locals.
