Amid the tense situation in the Middle East, the United States has demanded a major military strike against the Iranian Navy. US President Donald Trump said that the recent US attack has virtually destroyed the Iranian Navy and many of its ships are lying at the bottom of the sea.

In a post on his social media account Truth Social on Tuesday (March 10), Trump said that at least 10 Iranian mine-laying boats have been destroyed in the US attack in the last few hours. Later, the United States Central Command (Centcom) said that the number of destroyed boats had increased to 16. Video footage released by Centcom also claimed that several boats were exploded in a missile attack near the Strait of Hormuz.

Earlier, Iran had threatened to take measures to prevent any Gulf country’s oil from passing through the important Strait of Hormuz. As a result, international media reported that there was concern about shipping traffic in this waterway and that there was instability in the world oil market.

Trump said he did not have any concrete information on whether Iran had actually started laying mines. However, he warned that if mines were placed in the Strait of Hormuz and they were not removed quickly, Iran would face military consequences like never before. On the other hand, he also mentioned that if Iran removed the mines, it would be considered a positive step.

According to the US administration, one of the main goals of Operation Epic Fury, a joint military operation between the US and Israel that began on February 28, is to destroy the capabilities of the Iranian navy. Trump told Republican lawmakers that at least 46 Iranian ships have been destroyed in US attacks so far, including some of the most sophisticated warships.

Finally, Trump commented, “The Iranian navy is finished. All of their ships are now lying on the bottom of the sea.” However, Iran has not yet officially responded to these claims.
