Amid the ongoing tension in the Middle East, Donald Trump has strongly rejected Iran's call to 'surrender'. Top officials in Tehran have dismissed such statements by the United States as not only unacceptable, but also mocking.

Abbas Aslani, a senior research fellow at the Center for Middle East Strategic Studies, a Middle East-based analysis organization, said that Trump's comments have not changed Iran's political position. Rather, Tehran sees it as another reason to stick to its current policy.

In an interview with Al Jazeera, he said that the election of Iran's supreme leader is entirely part of the country's internal constitutional process. This responsibility is entrusted to Iran's religious council, the Assembly of Experts. As a result, Iranian officials have made it clear that no foreign power has the opportunity to interfere there.

According to Iranian officials, such claims by Trump are not in line with reality and are just a tactic to create political pressure. They also mentioned that such comments are ridiculous and unacceptable in Tehran's view.

Analyzing the events of the past few days, Abbas Aslani also said that a kind of confidence is currently being observed in Iran's position. Even in the face of US pressure or threats, they are not indicating any change in policy. Rather, their hard position is being expressed more strongly around Trump's statement.

According to analysts, such contradictory statements by the two countries could further increase tensions in the Middle East. At the same time, uncertainty surrounding Iran-US relations has also reached a new level.
