Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that more than 650 US military personnel have been killed in the first two days of its ‘True Promise 4’ operation. The casualties were reported to have occurred in attacks targeting various US bases and warships in the Middle East.
IRGC spokesman Brigadier General Ali Mohammad Naeini said that US military installations in the Persian Gulf have suffered extensive damage. He claimed that the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln was forced to withdraw from Iranian coastal waters after missiles and drone attacks on the headquarters and warships of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet in Bahrain.
He added that four cruise missiles were fired at the warship, which was located 250-300 kilometers off the coast of Chabahar in southeastern Iran. In response, he claimed that the warship had moved to the southeast of the Indian Ocean.
Regarding the number of casualties, Naeini said that the United States could deny or conceal these information, but this number was confirmed based on Iranian intelligence and battlefield information. According to him, 160 members of the military were killed in the attack on a key US military facility. In addition, a US Navy combat support ship was also claimed to have been severely damaged.
According to the Iranian military, ‘Operation True Promise 4’ is being conducted as a countermeasure in response to the ongoing aggression by Israel and the United States.
However, there was no immediate independent confirmation from the United States regarding these claims.
