Imran Khan calls for nationwide protests again

Former Prime Minister of Pakistan and founder of the Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party Imran Khan has called for nationwide protests after being sentenced to prison in the Toshakhana-2 case. At the same time, he has announced to appeal against the verdict in the Islamabad High Court.

Imran Khan gave this message through his lawyer after the court announced the verdict on Saturday (December 20). He is currently unable to use his social media accounts due to being in prison.

The details of the conversation with the lawyer were published on social media X, and it was reported that Imran Khan has instructed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi to prepare for protests on the streets.

He said that the entire nation should wake up to achieve their rights. The sentence in this case is nothing new to him. He said that he has already instructed the lawyers to go to the High Court. In his words, the verdict in the Toshakhana-2 case is no exception to the baseless verdicts and sentences that have been given in the last three years. This verdict was given hastily without any evidence and without completing the legal process. Our lawyers were not even heard.

He further said that it is now inevitable for the Insaf Lawyers Forum and the legal community to come forward to restore the rule of law and the constitution. He also commented that economic development is not possible without justice.

Meanwhile, the PTI has called the verdict against Imran Khan extremely unconstitutional, illegal, hateful and a heinous example of political revenge. PTI claims that the rule of law has been buried in Pakistan and political revenge is being taken systematically through a loyal judiciary.

In a press conference with senior PTI leader Asad Qaiser, party Secretary General Salman Akram Raza said that Imran Khan met the chief lawyer Barrister Salman Safdar in the court and from there a message was given to the nation.

He said that Imran Khan has clearly said that I am on a firm stand. I will not apologize to anyone under any circumstances. He commented that the case is a ridiculous case based on the weakest evidence.

On the other hand, Asad Qaiser said that in the current situation there is no other way out except resistance. However, this resistance will be peaceful, democratic and constitutional. He said that PTI will continue to fight for justice for its founder.

Imran Khan's sister Aleema Khan commented that the verdict is part of a 'pre-written script'. She said that those who are filing these cases are not very intelligent. I do not understand the script they have written.

She also claimed that there was an attempt to announce the verdict quickly by taking advantage of the foggy weather. His question is, what is the difference between giving 10 years and giving 14 years? 14 years has already been given.

He said that the people's patience has run out and a plan has been made to announce new verdicts every six months. However, he also warned that the people of Pakistan will not accept it anymore.
