A US court has sentenced former Harvard Medical School morgue manager Cedric Lodge to eight years in prison for stealing and selling donated organs for medical research.
Lodge, 58, ran Harvard Medical's morgue for more than two decades. He was sentenced Tuesday in a Pennsylvania district court after his arrest in 2023.
According to court sources, Lodge would collect heads, brains, skin and hands from corpses and take them to his home to sell to various people. His wife, Denise Lodge, was sentenced to one year in prison for her complicity in the crime.
Prosecutors said the incident had left many families deeply traumatized. Harvard Medical School had previously described the incident as "disgusting."
