The United States, the country of gun violence, is once again alive. One person has been killed after a gunman opened fire at a park in Rochester, New York. At least 6 people were injured. As of June 30 this year, there have been 302 gun attacks in the United States.
The news agency AP reported that the attack took place on Sunday evening (July 28) local time.
According to the police, several rounds were fired suddenly inside the park. Rochester Police Department Captain Greg Bello said at a press conference that several rounds were fired into the park around 6:20 p.m. local time. After receiving the information, the security forces quickly reached the spot and found several people lying injured.
He said, when the police reached the spot, they saw several people running away from there. The identity of the shooting victim has not yet been released.
One of the injured was taken to hospital in critical condition. Police have launched an operation to nab the attackers. The motive for the attack was not immediately known.
Gun attacks are common in the United States. Hundreds of people die in such incidents every year. According to the Gun Violence Archive, there were 302 gun attacks in the United States as of June 30 of this year.
