Israel has reportedly launched another attack on a small area of Gaza. Israeli air and ground forces have been carrying out raids on Gaza for the past few days, indicating a violation of the ceasefire agreement already reached with the Palestinians. The incident has raised concerns about the future of the ceasefire agreement.
US special envoys have stepped up diplomatic efforts to calm the situation through mediation by the international community. However, four Palestinians were killed in two separate attacks in the al-Shaf area of the Tufah area in eastern Gaza on Monday. The international media outlet Al Jazeera reported, citing the Palestinian Civil Defense, that all of the victims had gone out to check on the situation in their homes. They were killed by Israeli fire.
On the other hand, the Israeli army claimed that some armed men who crossed the “yellow line” in the Shujaiya area were threatening them, so they opened fire on them. This yellow line was marked on a map released by US President Donald Trump on October 4. Israeli forces withdrew behind this line as part of the ceasefire agreement.
However, residents of Gaza City say that they do not understand where the line is because there are no visible signs in the area. Local resident Samir (50) said, “The whole area has become a ruin. We have seen the map, but we cannot understand where the line is.”
Despite the US-brokered ceasefire that came into effect on October 10, there have been several attacks and incidents of violence in Gaza. According to Gaza authorities, at least 97 Palestinians have been killed so far. Local health officials were quoted as saying that at least 42 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes last Sunday, many of them children.
Both sides have accused each other of violating the ceasefire agreement, making the situation in the region even more dangerous and uncertain.
