US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that he will impose a 25 percent tariff on steel and aluminum. He confirmed that this tariff will be effective tomorrow, Tuesday.
Trump said that a 25 percent tariff will be imposed on any steel and aluminum entering the United States. This will be a fair tariff system that can affect any country in the world. He mentioned that a press conference will be held next Tuesday or Wednesday to provide detailed information.
In addition to steel and aluminum, Trump has also announced tariffs on semiconductor chips, medicines, oil and gas.
A 10 percent tariff was imposed on China on February 1, but after discussions with the leaders of Canada and Mexico last week, he decided to suspend the 25 percent tariff on these two countries for a month.
