TikTok on the verge of being banned across the United States

This time, the popular content sharing app TikTok is under threat of being banned across the United States. The lower house of the country's parliament, the House of Representatives, has already started preparing a bill on this matter, the authorities of this app said in a message. Anadolu Agency reports.

In the message sent to all TikTok users in the United States on Thursday, the authorities of the app said, 'A bill to ban TikTok in the United States is being prepared in the House of Representatives. We request American TikTok users to contact your local representatives. Tell them that TikTok is your property and that they should vote "no" if the bill is raised in Parliament.'

In a report on Friday, the American daily The Washington Post said that since TikTok gave this message, the phones of public representatives started receiving 'floods' of calls. However, the Washington Post confirmed that the message given by TikTok was correct.

In 2016, Chinese company ByteDance first launched the content sharing app TikTok. The app gained immense popularity among internet users soon after its launch. In a statement in 2022, ByteDance said that the number of TikTok users worldwide had exceeded 750 million. TikTok is also very popular among the general public in the United States. Various surveys have shown that two-thirds of the country's younger generation regularly use TikTok.
