The Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Sunday. Ukrainian troops have started surrendering to the Russian forces. More than 84 Ukrainian soldiers have surrendered in the past week. All these soldiers who surrendered were working in different army units in Ugledar city of Donetsk province of Ukraine.

Incidentally, Ugledar is a very important city from a strategic point of view. Ugledar is one of the most fortified cities in Ukraine as the city has several important military installations. Since 2022, when Russian forces began their offensive in Ukraine, Russian forces have been trying to take over the city.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Russian news agency Tass reported that various units of the Ukrainian army were suffering heavy losses in Ugledar. Then today's statement was given by the Ministry of Defense of the country.

Russian forces launched a military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, which is still ongoing, in violation of the terms of the Minsk agreements signed in 2015, non-recognition of Crimea as Russian territory and membership of the US-led military alliance NATO. Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the operation.

In nearly three years of war, Russia has captured several areas of the four provinces—Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson. Moscow's proposal - If Kiev recognizes these four provinces, including Crimea, as Russian territory, then the end of military operations in Ukraine will be announced. On the other hand, Kiev says that Ukraine will sit in peace talks only if Russia withdraws its troops from the occupied territories.
