Customers are being cheated by selling phones with the same features under different names

Published: 05:15 5 September 2024
Due to the high demand, the companies are bringing various feature rich phones in the market. There is a competition between them to bring more feature phones at lower prices to maintain sales. In this opportunity, as a strategy to retain the market, some brands are selling smartphones with the same features and hardware under other series or brand names. As a result customers are being cheated.
However, how correct this strategy is, and how it can affect the smartphone market in the future, let's find out in this report.
The strategy of smartphone re-branding is not exactly new. And to keep the market moving, this move may seem appropriate to many. However, when a smartphone of a particular brand with the same features is available at a cheaper price from another brand, it is natural for buyers to have doubts about these models. Also, various questions arise in the minds of consumers about brand value, innovation, marketing and brand affiliations.
Why companies do this strategy
While there is no exact answer as to why companies do this, it is believed that when a brand launches one smartphone after another, the company is in the news. Users also have multiple options to choose from that particular lineup of that company.
However, the marketing strategies of the brands which are known as sister brands are completely different. Among these, one brand of smartphone is sold offline, another is exclusively sold online. As a result, companies are able to attract both online and offline customers.
Also, users prefer to buy overpriced smartphones from physical stores. Hence, original brand devices are usually available in offline stores and sub-brand devices in online stores. But while smartphone cloning may seem like a clever marketing ploy, it ultimately has a profound impact on consumers and the market. As a result, customers' trust in the brand decreases.
However, as a result of cloning the smartphones remain the same except for minor changes, they also have multiple options when buying a smartphone. As a result, they can buy a smartphone according to their budget.
