He said this in response to a question from the journalists of the Ministry of Finance at the Secretariat on Sunday (August 18).
When asked if there was any talk about increasing the reserve, he said, the governor is there to talk about the reserve. We didn't go too deep. They and IMF will talk to Bangladesh Bank. We will work in coordination with the Ministry of Finance and Commerce.
When asked what steps will be taken to keep the price within the purchasing power of the people, the financial advisor said that the price of the product depends on the production and supply. If the production is good, the supply will increase and the price will decrease. It is related to trade. Efforts will be made to provide a supportive environment for all these related topics. We are quite vigilant about trade including imports. Our colleagues are working.
When asked if there was any discussion about LDC graduation, he said, it is a very big issue. LDC graduation has many conditions that are visible to us. Not only the Ministry of Finance, but also the NBR and others.
He said, I said on the first day that the governor was on that day and he also knows why the price of goods has increased. Basically there is market monitoring system including exchange rate.
Today, there are many people behind you who are working in government jobs and they are asking for rationing. If you ask what the common people will do, the financial advisor said, "For me, public and private common people are all equal." Everyone can live a beautiful life. I discussed 5 foods that day including rice, dal, eggs. We are aware of them, we will do them. I will make sure that everyone gets it at an equal rate, public and private.
