The Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) has increased the price of gold in the country's market again. According to the new decision, the price of a 22-carat gold bhori has been increased by 1,108 taka. As a result, the price of a 22-carat gold bhori, including VAT, stands at 2,35,146 taka. This new price has come into effect from 10 am on Tuesday (August 11).

Gold of different qualities at new prices

According to the new price set by BAJUS, the price of gold per bhori (11.664 grams) is—

22 carat: 2,35,146 taka

21 carat: 2,24,590 taka

18 carat: 1,92,864 taka

Traditional method: 1,57,522 taka

BAJUS said that the new price has been set considering the overall situation due to the increase in the price of acidic gold in the local market.

New price effective in all jewelry establishments

This price set by BAJUS will remain effective in all jewelry establishments in the country until further decision. However, wages will be applicable according to the design and type of jewelry.

Since VAT is included in the selling price of gold and silver jewelry, VAT cannot be collected separately from the customer. At the same time, the previous rules of Bajus will remain in force for the exchange and purchase of jewelry, excluding the prescribed VAT, wages and stone prices.

What was the price of gold before this?

Bajus had previously adjusted the price of gold on August 8. At that time, the price of a 22-carat gold bhori was increased by Tk 4,374 per bhori and set at Tk 2,34,038.

At that time, the price of 21-carat gold per bhori was Tk 2,23,541, the price of 18-carat gold was Tk 1,91,931, and the price of traditional gold was Tk 1,56,822.

In other words, the price of gold was increased again in just a few days.

Gold price adjustment 101 times this year

According to Bajus, gold prices have been adjusted 101 times in the country's market so far in 2026. Of these, prices have been increased 50 times, reduced 50 times, and VAT has been adjusted once.

On the other hand, Bajus adjusted gold prices a total of 93 times in 2025. Prices were increased 64 times and reduced 29 times that year.

Increased pressure on buyers

With the repeated increase in gold prices, the cost pressure on ordinary buyers who go to buy new ornaments is increasing. Especially when buying gold for weddings, family events, or investments, you will have to pay more than before according to the new price.

Currently, the price of a 22-carat bhori gold is Tk 2,35,146 including VAT, so while buying jewelry, you will have to take into account the applicable wages and other costs depending on the design.
