Gold prices have decreased again in the domestic market. According to the new price of the Bangladesh Jewelers Association, the price of 22-carat gold has been reduced by 2 thousand 216 taka per baht. With this, the new price of a good quality baht of gold stands at 2 lakh 23 thousand 74 taka.
This new price has come into effect from 10 am on Thursday. Earlier, the price of 22-carat gold was 2 lakh 25 thousand 290 taka per baht. Due to the decrease in the price of pure gold and silver in the international market, the price has also been adjusted in the domestic market.
According to the new price, the price of 21-carat gold has been fixed at 2 lakh 13 thousand 43 taka per baht. The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at 1 lakh 82 thousand 950 taka. And the price of gold in the traditional system has been fixed at 1 lakh 49 thousand 474 taka per baht.
Along with gold, the price of silver has also been reduced. The price of 22-carat silver has decreased by 350 taka per baht and the new price has become 4 thousand 891 taka.
Bajus said that this price will remain effective until further notice. However, wages may be added separately depending on the design and type of work of the jewelry.
An important point for customers is that in the case of gold jewelry, VAT is included in the fixed price. Therefore, there is no scope for charging additional VAT separately on the price of the same jewelry. However, the cost of wages, stones or special designs may differ according to the type of product.
Recently, due to fluctuations in the price of gold in the global market, prices are being adjusted frequently in the domestic market as well. The price of gold has changed more than once in the last one month. As a result, the concerned are advising buyers and sellers to make transactions by looking at the daily market price.
The proposed budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 has also mentioned a change in the VAT structure of gold jewelry. According to the new proposal, a certain amount of VAT has been fixed on each ton of gold, which is different from the previous percentage-based VAT system. As a result, traders believe that pricing in the jewelry market may be clearer.
Overall, the new rate has brought some relief to buyers interested in buying gold. However, if the international market situation changes, prices in the domestic market may increase or decrease again.
