In the first 23 days of the current November, Bangladesh received 1,726.3 million US dollars in remittances through legal channels, which is equivalent to Tk 20,716 crore in the country's currency (Tk 120 per dollar). At this rate, an average of 75 million dollars in remittances were received daily.
According to the updated report released by the central bank on Sunday (November 24), detailed information on remittance flows in the first 23 days of the current month has been received. Of this, $640 million came through state-owned banks, $131 million through a specialized bank, $951.3 million through private banks, and $4 million through foreign banks.
In addition, from July to October of the 2024-25 fiscal year, Bangladesh received 893.71 million US dollars in remittances, which was 687.83 million US dollars in the same period last year. That is, there has been a significant increase in remittance flows during this period.
According to the statistics of remittance receipts in different months of the 2024-25 fiscal year:
July: 191.377 million USD
August: 222.41 million USD
September: 240.47 million USD
October: 239.5 million USD
In the last 12 months of the 2023-24 fiscal year, the statistics of remittance flows on a monthly basis have also been presented, where the highest remittance of 254.16 million USD was received in June.
