Joy said that at the beginning of the year, Ilyas Kanchan had symptoms such as difficulty speaking and memory loss. Later, on April 9, he was taken to Anwar Khan Modern Hospital in Dhaka, and after various tests, a tumor was detected in his brain. Then, the medical board of the National Institute of Neuroscience said that the operation was too risky. Due to this, the family decided to take him to London on April 26.
Treatment and surgery abroad
After initial treatment at Harley Street Clinic in London, he underwent surgery on his head under the leadership of Professor Demetrius at Willington Hospital on August 5. Doctors said that it was not possible to completely remove the tumor as it was deep in the brain. After partial tumor removal, a plan has been made to control the rest through radiation and chemotherapy.
Long treatment process
In the coming days, Ilyas Kanchan will have to undergo 30 consecutive sessions of radiation and chemotherapy (five days per week, for six weeks). He will then be kept under close observation by doctors for four weeks. Joy expressed hope that he will be able to return home only if the doctors give him permission.
Prayer request
At the press conference, Mirajul Moin Joy said, “My father has been ill for a long time. Although the treatment is difficult and expensive, we are hoping for his speedy recovery. I seek prayers from the countrymen for his recovery.”
