Case against 300 people including Farhan of Jubo League for attacking student movement in Jamalpur

The police have filed a case against 300 people, including District Jubo League general secretary Farhan Ahmed, in connection with the attack on anti-discrimination student movement in Jamalpur. Jamalpur Sadar Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Mithun Mia filed the case on Saturday (August 17) evening. Sadar Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohabbat Kabir confirmed the matter.

According to the statement of the case, on the afternoon of August 3, general students took out a rally under the banner of anti-discrimination student movement in Jamalpur city. When the rally passed through Bakultala via Mirza Azam Square, activists of Awami League and its subsidiary organizations attacked ordinary students with ramdas, bamboo sticks and firearms. At this time, ordinary students started running around in panic. Once they dispersed, District Jubo League General Secretary Farhan Ahmed, Nafizur Rahman Tushar and Shahriar Islam Rafi threatened with firearms.

The police filed this case as a plaintiff for publicly displaying firearms in this way. Sadar police sub-inspector (SI) Mohammad Mithun Mia, the plaintiff in the case, said that the case was filed for illegally displaying firearms and indigenous weapons in public.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar police station Muhammad Mohabbat Kabir said that a case has been filed in connection with the attack on the anti-discrimination student movement. An operation is underway to arrest the accused.
