The injured person's name is Nur Jalal Molya (65). He is the son of the late Yusuf Molya of Jalalsi village of Naldi union of Lohagara upazila.
The victim Nur Jalal Molya said that he has filed a written complaint with Lohagara Police Station accusing Md. Ashiq Hossain, Md. Raju Musli and four to five unidentified people of Baraipara village of Naldi union in the robbery incident.
According to the written complaint and local sources, Nur Jalal Molya was heading towards Narail town on a motorcycle around 12:30 pm on July 14 after finishing work on his fish enclosure. On the way, some people on three motorcycles stopped him.
The victim alleged that the attackers beat him up and snatched away 50,000 taka and a gold ring from him. At one point, he tried to take the motorcycle, but he resisted. At that time, he was hit in the hand with a sharp weapon. The blow hit his right finger and he fell off the motorcycle in a bloody state. Then the accused left the scene with the motorcycle.
After the incident, Nur Jalal Molya went to Narail Sadar Hospital with the help of his brother Manjur Hossain Molya for treatment.
The injured Nur Jalal Molya said that he had no previous dispute with the accused. He claimed that the behavior of the attackers made him think that they were drug addicts. He suspects that the attack and robbery may have been carried out to collect money for drugs.
He also said that the motorcycle recovered from the Naldi police outpost on July 16 was returned to him. However, he alleged that no visible legal action has been taken against the accused.
Nur Jalal Molya said, “Although the motorcycle was recovered, the accused have not been arrested. I strongly demand a proper investigation into the incident and bring the accused to justice.”
In this regard, Lohagara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdur Rahman said that after receiving a written complaint, the in-charge of the Naldi Police Outpost has been instructed to investigate the matter.
He said, “As far as I know, the Naldi Outpost police quickly recovered the motorcycle. An impartial investigation into the incident has been ordered.”
SI Aziz, in-charge of the Naldi Police Outpost, said that the police recovered the motorcycle after receiving the instructions of the OC of Lohagara Police Station. The victim took the motorcycle from the outpost on July 16.
However, when asked what action has been taken against the accused, he mentioned that there is also a complaint against the plaintiff. When asked whether there is any written complaint against the plaintiff, he did not give a clear answer on this matter.
Although the motorcycle was recovered after the incident, there is ongoing discussion and criticism among locals as none of the accused have been arrested. Locals have demanded that the real culprits be identified through an impartial investigation into the incident and brought to justice.
