Auto driver sentenced to one month's imprisonment for eve-teasing a schoolgirl in Comilla

An auto-rickshaw driver has been sentenced to one month's imprisonment and a fine of Tk 10,000 by a mobile court for eve-teasing three sixth-grade students in Laksam, Comilla.
The incident took place on Sunday (May 24) afternoon in the Laksam Railway Bazar area. The convicted person is Amir Hossain (30), son of Tuku Mia of Mitalla village in Chauddagram upazila.
According to local sources, three schoolgirls boarded an auto-rickshaw on their way home after coaching. On the way, they were accused of eve-teasing them. Later, when they reached the Laksam Railway Junction Bazar area, the students started crying and the locals noticed the matter and stopped the auto-rickshaw and called 999.
On receiving the information, administration officials went to the spot and conducted a mobile court. After the hearing, the accused was given one month's imprisonment and a fine.
Laksam Upazila Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate Nargis Sultana said that the verdict was given after hearing the statements of the victim student and the accused and finding the allegations of eve-teasing proven.
