9-year-old child raped while picking mangoes

A 9-year-old child has been allegedly taken to a secluded place by threatening her and attempting to misbehave with her in a village in Saltha upazila of Faridpur. Local sources said the incident took place on Saturday (May 23) afternoon. The child is a student of a local women's madrasa.
The complaint states that a complaint has been filed against a person named Khayer Dai, a resident of Bangrail village in Sonapur union of the upazila, regarding this incident. He runs a grocery shop locally.
The child's family members said that when the accused went to pick mangoes in the area near their house in the afternoon, the accused took the child to a garden by threatening her. Later, the family members came to know about the matter after seeing the child's behavior and situation.
According to locals, after coming to know about the incident, some locals tried to detain the accused. However, it is alleged that he later fled from there. The incident has created widespread discussion and concern in the area.
After receiving the information, the Saltha police station visited the spot. Police said the process of filing a complaint on behalf of the child's family is underway and a drive has been launched to arrest the accused.
The officer-in-charge of Saltha police station said the complaint is being investigated seriously and legal action will be taken.
