Terrible torture in launch cabin: Two arrested for raping Viqarunnisa College student

A class 12 student of the capital's renowned educational institution Viqarunnisa Noon School and College has been accused of raping her in a Dhaka-bound launch cabin. The incident took place in a passenger launch named Farhan-04 launch. The police have arrested two accused in this incident. The victim student is currently undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

According to police sources, the victim's brother filed a case at Kotwali Police Station, Dhaka on Tuesday (March 10). According to the complaint, the 17-year-old student boarded a launch for Dhaka from Hatia Tamuruddin Launch Ghat, Noakhali on March 8 afternoon. Her father dropped her off in cabin number 328 of Farhan-04 launch.

The case statement states that Mohammad Shakib Uddin (26) and Mohammad Nuruzzaman Mithu (32) boarded the launch at the same time. After a while, they knocked on the cabin door and claimed to know the victim's father. Later, when they requested to keep some money they had with them to buy a motorcycle in the cabin for security reasons, the student allowed them to keep the money in the cabin in good faith.

The complaint states that after entering the cabin, at one stage, the accused Shakib made an indecent proposal to the student. When she refused, the two tried to forcefully control her. At that time, Mithu took her mobile phone and left the cabin, and Shakib closed the door and raped her forcibly.

According to the complaint of the victim's brother, when she tried to scream during the incident, he threatened to kill her. Later, at night, the accused entered the cabin again, intimidated her and raped her again, the statement states.

In this regard, the officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, Dhaka, Shah Md. Faisal Ahmed said that immediately after receiving the complaint, the police conducted a raid and arrested the two accused. A case has been registered against them and they will be produced in court on Tuesday. The police said that a detailed investigation into the incident is underway.
