Jamaat worker killed, 1 injured in Fatikchhari shooting

A Jamaat worker named Jamal Uddin was killed in a shooting by miscreants in Fatikchhari upazila of Chittagong. Another person named Nasir Uddin alias Chhota Nasir was shot in the same incident.

The attack took place at around 7:30 pm on Saturday (January 10) in Shahnagar area of ​​Lelang Union of the upazila. Nasir Uddin, who was shot, was rescued and admitted to Chittagong Medical College (CMCH) Hospital. According to locals, he is also involved in Jamaat politics.

Police and local sources said that a group of miscreants coming on three motorcycles suddenly opened fire on Jamal Uddin and Nasir Uddin. Jamal Uddin was killed on the spot. On receiving the information, Fatikchhari police station and police quickly reached the spot, recovered the body and prepared a post-mortem report. At that time, six rounds of bullet shells were recovered from the spot.

Hathazari Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Kazi Md. Tarek Aziz said, "Information has been received that one person was killed and one person was injured in the shooting. Locals said they were associated with Jamaat politics. However, detailed information has not been received yet. Efforts are underway to identify the attackers."

The incident is being investigated seriously, police said.
