A human chain was held in Saratola village of Auria union in Narail Sadar upazila to protest against the conspiratorial and false case filed against the plaintiff in the murder case. The human chain was held on Wednesday (November 19) at the initiative of the victim's family and local residents in Saratola village.
The speakers at the human chain said that in order to intentionally harass the plaintiff in the murder case, Nasima Begum, a local influential group set fire to their house at night and filed a false case with the police station, making her the accused. They strongly protested against these injustices.
Jamal Hossain, a local resident of Saratola village, said that four murders have taken place in Saratola village over the past few years. Among them, two people named Saheb and Shanto beat up Nasima Begum, who was nine months pregnant, last year due to a land dispute. Nasima's unborn child died due to their torture. Later, she filed a murder case in court, which is currently in the final stages of the legal process.
Jamal further said, "There was pressure for a long time to withdraw the case. Failing that, the accused set fire to their own house at night and accused Nasima Begum and filed a case at the police station. We strongly condemn this false case and demand exemplary punishment for the accused of killing the unborn child."
Victim Nasima Begum said, "I want justice for the killers of my child. The false case filed to frame me must be withdrawn. I should not be harassed and my case should be properly tried."
Local dignitaries, men and women, and more than a hundred people from the village participated in the human chain. They stood by Nasima Begum and demanded fair implementation of the law and justice.
