A businessman named Khaja Molya (38) has been accused of being hacked and beaten to death in Narail Sadar Upazila. The incident took place near the Moni Bricks brick kiln in Goalbathan area at around 5 pm on Tuesday (October 28). He has been admitted to Narail Sadar Hospital in an injured condition.
The injured Khaja Molya is the son of the deceased Abu Molya of Dhuria village in Sadar Upazila. He ran a tea and grocery shop next to the brick kiln.
According to relatives, Khaja Molya had an ongoing dispute with Raja Molya of the same village over a shop-related matter. On Tuesday afternoon, while he was selling tea at the shop, Raja Molya and his associates attacked Khaja Molya with sharp weapons. The attackers hacked and beat him to death on various parts of his head, hands and body and fled. Later, locals rescued him and admitted him to Narail Sadar Hospital.
The injured Khawaja Molya complained, “Raja Molya, Ismail Sheikh, Billal Sheikh, Manjur Sheikh, Babu Sheikh, Lavu Sheikh and 10-15 others hacked and beat me. Raja Molya was threatening me to move the shop. They attacked me because I did not move the shop.”
Accused Raja Molya has been absconding since the incident.
Dr. Alok Bagchi, the on-duty doctor at Narail Sadar Hospital, said, “The injured person has sharp weapon injury marks on various parts of his body. He is currently undergoing treatment.”
