A van driver's three bulls and cows were burnt to ashes in a horrific fire in Gunjargarh Mandirpara village of Bariya union in Thakurgaon Sadar upazila. The van driver Pran Krishna has been left destitute in the incident.

The fire broke out at around 12:30 pm on Wednesday (October 22). Locals said that a fire suddenly broke out in Pran Krishna's cowshed during the day. Within moments, the fire spread to the entire house. As no one was home at the time, neighbors rushed to extinguish the fire. Although the locals were able to control the fire after about half an hour of effort, 3 out of the 5 bulls in the cowshed were burnt to death.

Along with the cowshed, other household items were also completely burnt in the fire. Pran Krishna and his family are facing extreme financial crisis and suffering from depression.

Victim Pran Krishna said, “I used to drive a van and raise the cows with great difficulty. My son also used to help. 3 out of 6 cows died in the fire today. These cows were my only support. Now I don’t know how to move on.” He appealed to the administration and public representatives for help.

Belal Hossain Renu, the panel chairman of the Bariya Union Parishad, said, “After receiving the news of the incident, I went to the spot and saw that the three cows were completely burnt to ashes. The Union Parishad will take initiatives to help the affected family.”

Locals said that Pran Krishna’s family is now living a subhuman life. They have sought immediate government assistance.
