Teacher arrested on charges of spreading objectionable pictures and videos of a student

Rab has arrested a teacher named Shahin Islam (30) in Kushtia on charges of spreading objectionable pictures and videos of a student on social media Facebook. He was arrested from Housing Center Road in Sudharam Upazila of Noakhali on Saturday (August 16) afternoon. This information was confirmed by Additional Superintendent of Police Sudipto Sarkar, Company Commander of RAB-12 Kushtia Camp.

Arrested Shahin Islam is the son of Shahidul Islam of Saharbati village in Gangni Upazila of Meherpur. He is a science teacher at Shahin Cadet School located in RAB Goli in Kushtia town. According to RAB sources, Shahin had been spreading objectionable pictures and videos of a seventh-grade student on Facebook on several occasions since April 23 of this year. In this incident, the mother of the student filed a case under the Pornography Act with Kushtia Model Police Station on August 7. Since then, the teacher has been absconding.

According to the case report, the student was admitted to Shaheen Cadet School coaching on December 5, 2023. Four months later, teacher Shaheen lured the student out after school and took her to his rented house and recorded some pictures and videos of her. He also used to collect nude videos on his mobile phone. When the matter was reported to the family and the chairman of the institution, Shaheen got angry and spread the pictures on Facebook from his own and various IDs.

Company Commander Sudipto Sarkar said, “Such an ugly and stubborn act has insulted the great relationship between the teacher and the student. He has been arrested with the help of RAB-11 from Noakhali. The process of handing over the accused to Model Police Station in Kushtia is underway.”
