Police recovered the body of this woman named Lipika Juliana Gomez (55) on Wednesday afternoon. He was an office assistant at Notre Dame College in the capital.
Police say that sharp weapon injuries were seen on Lipika's head. It is believed that the killer escaped by hacking him to death with a sharp weapon.
According to police sources, Lipika lived alone on rent in a flat on the fourth floor of a five-storey building on Rishikesh Das Lane. She was married to a man named Mahbubul Alam 20 years ago. Later the two got divorced. Lipika has no children. Lipika's home is in Dohar Upazila of Dhaka District. His old mother lives there. His only brother lives abroad.
Sutrapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saiful Islam told Prothom Alo on Thursday morning that the National Emergency Service called '999' yesterday afternoon. The police recovered the body and sent it to Sir Salimullah Medical College morgue in Old Dhaka for post-mortem.
OC Saiful Islam said that last Tuesday, Lipika did not go to her workplace Notre Dame College. The principal of the educational institution contacted him and got his phone switched off. Yesterday, the principal sent his personal assistant, Johnny Charles Gomez, to the rented house to look for the clerk. Johnny goes there and goes to the flat with the caretaker of the house. The door of the flat is found closed. They entered the flat by opening the lock with the spare key kept by the caretaker. At this time, they found Lipika lying on the bed. Putting a pillow on his face and forehead. They removed the pillow and found the clerk's head bloody. A scar on the left side of the head. They called '999' and reported the matter. The matter was reported to Sutrapur police station from 999. Later, the police went to the spot and recovered Lipika's bloody body.
Saiful Islam also said that there was no security guard in the house where Lipika was staying. Each tenant has a lock key to the main gate to enter the building. He used to enter and lock as usual. It is believed that someone known to Lipika came home with him on Tuesday. He hacked him to death and left. Lipika's mother has been informed. If he comes to the police station, the case will be accepted.
