Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has foiled an attempt by 15 people to enter Bangladesh through the Rokanpur border in Chapainawabganj. The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) was forced to turn them back in the face of the BGB's tough stance.
The incident took place at around 1:15 am on Friday (June 12) in the 220/MP Pillar area of the Rokanpur border in Chapainawabganj under the Naogaon Battalion (16 BGB).
According to BGB sources, the BSF tried to force a total of 15 people, including 2 men, 8 women and 5 children, to enter Bangladesh by boat through the river. However, when BGB members on duty at the border took quick action, the infiltrators were forced to take up positions in the zero point area of India.
Later, at around 2:45 am, members of the Kotalpur camp of India's 88th Battalion BSF took the 15 people back to their territory.
Lt. Col. Ariful Islam Masum, commander of the Naogaon Battalion (16 BGB), said that the border situation is being closely monitored. Round-the-clock patrolling and surveillance are in force in the border area and the BGB is always ready to thwart any kind of illegal infiltration or push-in attempt.
