Two days after her disappearance, body of old woman found in floor of house, son absconding

Two days after her disappearance, police recovered the body of an old woman named Marufa Begum (60) from the floor of her house in Kishoreganj Upazila of Nilphamari. The incident has created a sensation in the area.
The incident took place late on Wednesday (June 3) night in the North Baravita Maidanpara area of Baravita Union of the upazila. Later, the body was recovered with the help of the fire service and police.
The deceased Marufa Begum is the wife of the deceased Ashraf Ali of the area. He lived with his family. According to local and family sources, he had been missing since last Monday. After that, the family members searched in various places but could not find any trace of him.
Later, the matter was reported to the police after they noticed unusual cracks and blood marks on the floor of the house. Later, the police went to the spot and dug up the floor and recovered the body.
The deceased's younger son, Lavin Mia, alleged that his elder brother, Jewel Mia, has been absconding since the incident. He claimed that the murder could have been committed due to a family dispute. However, the police said that the matter will be confirmed through investigation.
Kishoreganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Lutfar Rahman said, "The body has been recovered and sent for autopsy. The incident is being investigated. Work is underway to uncover the real cause."
Police said that a drive is underway to identify and arrest those involved in the incident.
