Teenager dies after drowning in river in Panchagarh

A teenager named Munnaf (14) died while bathing in the Dahuk river in Tentulia, Panchagarh. The incident took place on Monday (June 1, 2026) morning in Sanu Balbari village of Shalbahan union number 4 of Tentulia upazila.
The deceased Munnaf is the son of Tajimul Haque of Rawshanpur area of Tirnoihat union. According to family sources, he lived in Dhaka with his father. He went to visit his grandmother's house on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha and took a bath in the Dahuk river with his friends in the morning. He did not know how to swim and at one point drowned in deep water.
Later, locals rescued him and quickly took him to the Tentulia Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead. Tentulia Model Police Station OC Laisur Rahman confirmed the truth of the incident.
The incident has cast a shadow of mourning over the area. There is a lot of mourning among families and relatives over such a death during the joyous time of Eid.
