Former DG of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs detained at the border, 7 passports found with him

Police have detained former Director General (DG) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sabbir Bin Shams while he was entering the country through the Patgram border area of Lalmonirhat. A total of seven passports, including two diplomatic passports, were seized from him, the law enforcement agencies said.
He was detained from the Dahagram area of the upazila border on Saturday. District Superintendent of Police Md. Asaduzzaman confirmed the matter.
According to police information, he came to the attention of locals after entering the country suspiciously through the border area. Later, a drive was conducted and he was arrested.
Law enforcement officials said that there is a case against Sabbir Bin Shams by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). It was also informed that he will be handed over to the court after interrogation.
It is learned that Sabbir Bin Shams previously served as the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on a contractual basis and as a 'Minister' at the Bangladesh High Commission in the UK.
