Nalitabari's Mannan wins buffalo in bet after paddy sheaf wins

An exceptional celebration took place in Kalspar Union No. 12 of Nalitabari Upazila surrounding the election results of Sherpur-2 constituency. As the candidate with the paddy sheaf symbol won, the losing side handed over a buffalo to the winning side.

According to local sources, Abdur Mannan (60) of Uttar Nakshi village of Kalspar Union and Amir Hossain (45) of Balughata village made a bet before the election. The condition was that if Golam Kibria, the candidate with the scales symbol supported by Jamaat, wins, Abdur Mannan will give five buffaloes to Amir Hossain. And if the candidate with the paddy sheaf symbol wins, Amir Hossain will give one buffalo to Abdur Mannan, with which the local people will be entertained.

Yesterday, BNP nominated candidate Engineer Fahim Chowdhury won the Sheaf of Paddy election in Sherpur-2 constituency by a margin of 10,140 votes. After the results were announced, Abdur Mannan brought the buffalo to the Uttar Nakshi area with musical instruments, dancing and singing along with the locals.

Abdul Majid, Chairman of Kalspar Union Parishad, said, “Such an exceptional celebration has set an example of harmony and harmony in the area.”

The winner Abdur Mannan said, “We are very happy to win the Sheaf of Paddy. When elections come, the people of Gramganj rejoice. We won the bet, now we will slaughter the buffalo and entertain the locals.”

On the other hand, Amir Hossain, who lost the bet and gave the buffalo, said, “We had bet for fun. Even though we lost, we gave the buffalo with a happy heart.”
