The Dighirpar of the traditional Ulipur village of Tarash upazila of Sirajganj district is now filled with the chirping of guest birds. Every year, with the arrival of winter, hundreds of migratory birds fly from distant countries like Siberia and the foothills of the Himalayas. With their arrival, Ulipur Dighirpar seems to regain new life.
The clear waters of the Dighi, the surrounding green trees and the peaceful natural environment have made it a safe haven for birds. Locals say that this area becomes a paradise for guest birds from the beginning of November to February every year.
Various species of migratory birds including sandpipers, grebes, pankauri, bucks, and dahuks roam freely in the water and sky of the Dighi from morning to evening. Sometimes they fly with their wings spread, sometimes they dive into the water and collect food. Local people and nature lovers from far and wide gather to see these scenes.
When the soft morning sunlight falls on the water of the pond and shimmers, flocks of birds fly in the sky—it is a charming sight. Again, in the late afternoon, the flight of birds and their reflection in the red glow of the sunset create a wonderful fairy-tale scene.
Nature lovers and photographers say that Ulipur Dighirpar has now become an attractive tourist spot not only for locals but also for nature lovers from all over the country. Here, the chirping of birds, the waves of the water and the calm environment combine to create an atmosphere of gentle tranquility.
Locals claim that if the administration takes appropriate steps to protect this pond and its surrounding environment, it can become a spectacular eco-tourism spot. Not only will this maintain the balance of nature, but it will also add a new dimension to the tourism sector.
Ulipur Dighirpar is now a place of unique tranquility amidst the chirping of birds, the gentle sound of the wind, and the beauty of nature. In this winter season, nature seems to have unveiled its beauty here on the wings of birds.
