Protest march in Barguna against Charmonai Pir for insulting the Quran

A protest march and rally organized by the District Nationalist Ulama Party was held in Barguna to protest the insulting of the Holy Quran by the Nayeb-e-Amir of Islamic Movement Bangladesh, Faizul Karim.
The protest march, which started at 11 am yesterday, circled the main roads of Barguna district town and finally met at the Press Club premises. Leaders and activists of various religious and political organizations of the district participated in the program.
District Nationalist Ulama Party convener Maulana Shah Jalal Rumi presided over the rally. Former Joint General Secretary of District BNP Md. Habibur Rahman Panna, District Nationalist Youth Party President Zahid Hossain Mollah, General Secretary Jabedul Islam Jewel, Advocate Abdul Wasi Matin, Abul Kalam Azad, Rajibul Islam Sohel and District Chhatra Dal President Faizul Malek Sajeeb were among the speakers.
The speakers strongly condemned the insult to the Quran and demanded exemplary punishment for the accused. They said that insulting the holy book Al-Quran is in no way justified and strict action should be taken against such malicious acts.
The speakers demanded that the local administration and the government conduct a speedy investigation and punish the accused immediately according to the law. At the end of the rally, a strict movement was announced if immediate action was not taken against those concerned. The protest leaders called on everyone to work together to peacefully protect the sensitivities of the Muslim people of the country.
