The Department of Consumer Rights Protection has imposed and collected a fine of Tk 55,000 from the owners of three establishments in Jibannagar, Chuadanga, for not having information and prices of seed packets imported and selling fertilizers at high prices.

The inspection was conducted from 11 am to 1:30 pm on Thursday (October 9).

Mohammad Mamunul Hasan, assistant director of the district office of the National Consumer Rights Protection Department in Chuadanga, said that inspections were conducted at seed, pesticide, and grocery stores in Jibannagar market from 11 am to 1:30 pm today. At that time, due to the lack of information on the importer of the seed packet, price and other necessary information related to the seeds, the owner of M/s Sheela Seed Warehouse was fined Tk 25,000 under Section 37 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009 and the owner of M/s Green Life Seeds was fined Tk 25,000 under Section 40 of the same act for selling fertilizer at a price of Tk 5,000 and more. During the campaign, they were instructed to update their price list, buy and sell products at fixed and reasonable prices, and not sell expired and substandard products, medicines, and seeds. He said that this campaign will continue in the public interest.

Chuadanga District Seed Certification Office External Officer Salma Jahan Nipa, CAB representative Rafiqul Islam and a team of Chuadanga District Police were in overall cooperation in the campaign.
