United International University (UIU) has permanently expelled a student named Md. Monser Ali (ID: 0112230856) for insulting Islam and the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). He was a student of the second tri-semester of a department of the university.

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the university's disciplinary committee on Wednesday (October 8) afternoon. The matter was confirmed in a notification sent by the university's public relations office.

The incident began when Monser Ali was beaten up by his classmates for insulting Islam, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and the Quran. Later, the teachers took him to the university's medical center. At that time, a large number of students gathered in front of the medical center and protested.

The protesting students raised two demands - immediate permanent expulsion of the accused student and bringing him under the law, and taking initiatives to teach religious values, including suspending all classes and exams for that day.

The students said that Monser Ali lived in a hostel named 'White House' in the Satarkul area of North Badda. There, he used to discuss the Prophet, the Quran and religion in obscene language with a roommate and tried to incite him to atheism. The roommate recorded the discussion and spread it to various groups in the university, which created anger among the students.

Earlier, on October 5, a student named Apurba Pal was permanently expelled from North South University on the same charge. He was a student of the Media, Communication and Journalism Department of that university.

The incident has once again highlighted the importance of respecting religious sentiments and maintaining discipline in educational institutions in the country.
