Jasim Matubbar of Nagarkandar, Faridpur—Having no hands since birth, Jasim has overcome the hardships of life and passed his secondary and higher secondary schooling by writing with his feet. He is currently studying in the second year of his degree at Faridpur Government Rajendra College. However, he has been suffering from various government and private services, starting from his studies, due to not having a National Identity Card (NID) for a long time.
Finally, the process of getting Jasim's NID has begun. On Wednesday (September 24) morning, Jasim was brought to the Upazila Election Officer's office at the initiative of Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Dabir Uddin. There, his iris photo and signature were collected.
Confirming the truth of the incident, UNO Dabir Uddin said, "Jasim came to my office around 10:30 am. Later, I took him to the Upazila Election Officer's room. There, his iris photo and signature were taken. After that, the documents were sent to the Election Commission with the certificate attached. Jasim will soon receive his national identity card."
Jasim has been protesting at the election office for a long time, but nothing has been done. He has applied online repeatedly but has not gotten the desired result. Although he was disappointed, the Upazila Executive Officer came to the notice of the matter after the news was published in various media outlets recently. The process of obtaining Jasim's national identity card has progressed due to his interest and steps.
Expressing his joy, Jasim Matubbar said, "I am really happy today. I have struggled in everything since birth due to lack of hands, and I used to face more problems because I did not have a national identity card. Today, UNO sir has stood by me, I am grateful to him."
