The party has demanded the resignation of the Home Affairs Advisor in the terrorist attack on Gana Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque. The party's General Secretary Rashed Khan alleged that such an attack is not possible without the order of the Home Affairs Advisor. Therefore, he must resign by taking responsibility for the incident.
Rashed Khan made these remarks at a press conference organized at Dhaka Medical College Hospital premises around 11:30 am today, Sunday. He warned that if action is not taken within the next 48 hours, the leaders and activists of Gana Odhikar Parishad may take up a program to surround the secretariat or the Jamuna. The responsibility for this will lie entirely with the government.
At the press conference, Rashed Khan alleged that although the video footage of the attack on Nurul Haque is clear, no one has been arrested yet. He commented that this has created doubts about the trial.
The General Secretary of the Gana Odhikar Parishad said that Nurul Haque has a broken nose and jaw, injuries to his gums and a serious head injury. Due to these reasons, he is unable to eat solid food. In this condition, he should have been sent abroad for better treatment. However, he claimed that some kind of delay is being done by the government.
Rashed Khan alleged that the government is delaying the treatment to hide the fact that Nurul Haque is bloody and seriously injured from the international community. He said that the Gana Odhikar Parishad will not rely on the mercy of the government; if necessary, he will be sent abroad on the party's initiative.
At the press conference, the party's senior vice president Faruk Hasan said that Nurul Haque was supposed to be discharged from the hospital today, but it has been postponed due to physical complications. He said that the fracture of the nose bone has worsened, the right side of the jaw is partially paralyzed and complications have also arisen in the liver.
