2 students shot dead in Comilla protesting the attack

The police fired rubber bullets to stop the quota agitating students of Comilla University and other nearby educational institutions from marching. Two students were shot. Meanwhile, the agitated students vandalized a police car.
On Tuesday (July 16), the students protested against the attack of the BCL on protesting students in various educational institutions across the country.

Several thousand students from various institutions including Comilla Polytechnic Institute, Comilla Victoria Government College, Comilla Government College, Comilla Government Laboratory High School and Comilla District School joined the protesting students of Comilla University.
It can be seen from the ground, that the procession started from the old block of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall, followed by Kazi Nazrul Islam Hall, Shahid Dhirendranath Dutta Hall, Sheikh Hasina Hall and Nawab Faizunnessa Hall before entering the university. After that, they broke the lock given by the Chhatra League in the new block of Bangabandhu Hall adjacent to the mosque, rescued the protesting students, crossed the Kotbari junction and reached the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, when the police started throwing bricks and rubber bullets at the students. It has been confirmed that two school students have been injured so far. They are Kamrul Hasan Sakib of Zilla School, Taseem of Class 10 of Government Laboratory High School.
Meanwhile, agitated students vandalized a police vehicle on Tomcham Bridge Road adjacent to the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in protest of the firing on the students. They also blocked the highway for two hours from 4 pm to 6 pm.

In this regard, Additional Superintendent of Police Nazmul Hasan said that the agitating students started throwing bricks at the police without any provocation, while they vandalized the police vehicle. The police showed patience.

Also, students of Mass Communication and Journalism Department of Comilla University (KUBI) who participated in the quota movement today at 11:00 AM are forming a human chain to protest the attack of Chhatra League on Farhad Kausar, a student of Mass Communication and Journalism Department. About half a hundred BCL leaders and workers have resigned from yesterday till this afternoon in protest against BCL attacks on various universities in the last two days.
