At least 10 people were injured in a clash between two parties over van fare in Dhaora village of Shailkupa upazila of Jhenaidah. The incident took place on Sunday (August 17) morning. Three of the injured have been sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
According to local sources, a scuffle broke out between two van drivers of Dhaora village, Arab Ali and Rabiul Islam, at Langalbandh Bazar in the upazila on Saturday afternoon over demanding fare from two female passengers. Both of them are known as supporters of two influential parties locally.
Tension spread in Dhaora village on Sunday morning due to the incident. At one stage, more than a hundred people from both sides got involved in a clash with shields, ramdas, sticks and brickbats. At least 10 people were injured in this.
Upon receiving the information, Shailkupa Police Station reached the spot and brought the situation under control and rescued the injured and admitted them to the Upazila Health Complex. Three seriously injured people were referred to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
Shailkupa Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Masum Khan said, “Upon receiving the information about the clash, the police quickly reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
