The government has decided to make Md. Mainul Islam, who was removed from the post of police chief, an ambassador. He is the son of the former IGP Panchagarh district.

On Tuesday (November 26), a notification was issued by the Ministry of Public Administration, assigning his job to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will then issue a notification posting Mainul to a country.

After the Awami League government fell in a mass uprising by students and the public on August 5, an interim government was formed.

Mainul Islam was appointed as the new IGP on August 6. At that time, Additional Inspector General of Police Mainul was serving as the Commandant of Traffic and Driving School Dhaka.

On November 20, Mainul Islam was removed, and retired police officer Baharul Alam was appointed as the new Inspector General of Police.

Mainul Islam joined the Bangladesh Police as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in the BCS (Police) batch on January 20, 1991.
